This page describes what actually happens on this site — no more, no less.

When you drop in a file or record with your microphone, the audio is read by your browser and processed locally on your device. The pitch detection and the writing of the .mid file both happen in the page itself.
We do not receive your audio. We cannot see it, store it, or share it. If you disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded, the converter still works — that is a direct consequence of there being no server involved.
This site is served as static files by Cloudflare. Like any hosting provider, Cloudflare processes standard request information — such as IP address, user agent and the URL requested — in order to deliver the page and to protect the service against abuse. That happens at the network layer, before any page content reaches you, and it is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy. We do not use those logs to build profiles of visitors.
This site does not display advertising at the moment. No ad network is installed on these pages today.
Third-party advertising is planned for LocalMIDI as a way to cover the cost of running it. If and when advertising is introduced:
The record button asks your browser for microphone access. That permission is granted by you, to your browser — not to us. The recorded clip is decoded in the page. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your browser settings, and the file-upload path will continue to work without it.
If the way this site handles data changes — for example when advertising is introduced — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. The current version is always the one published here.
